I recently discovered that the Princess Leia Series leia might low-key be the best New Hope Leia figure in 3.75" scale, at least as far as softgoods figures are concerned. Good head sculpt with good paint apps that actually look like Carrie Fisher, excellent detail on her fabric clothing, and she comes with the 90s Power of the Force chrome dome R2D2. Drawbacks are that she's only 5 POA (which is fine IMO) and she doesn't come with a blaster. I get that Kenner was trying to market this figure towards girls, but no weapons is probably why they ended up being peg warmers.
Thankfully, that means it's easy to get a good deal. I got a new on card one for only $16 and this is going to be my primary New Hope Leia from now on, and the R2 she came with is going to be my primary too. I got her a blaster for $5 on eBay.
I recently started re-building my 3.75" collection and I'm trying to focus on soft goods for characters with cloaks and capes where I can get them, because they can actually sit in vehicles and still look like they do in the movies. Still waiting for that new Darth Vader figure later this year though.
