The prequels are far more expansive and creative looking despite the limitations and effects that you don't like.
The only sets that felt like they were real locations were Rogue One's Yavin base (and maybe only because ANH set it up) and TLJ's Calamari capital ship. Everywhere else felt like they were at a Disneyland locations, half sets with limited viewing. That island data base in R1 almost felt like an actual location.
Almost every setting with the prequels felt like they were real; they were alive, lived in, and seemed like with around every corner you could see more shit.
The aliens in the sequels are just boring or cartoons. Limited, samey, or cartoony. Completely forgettable.
