Also I think it's kind of a myth that WP pilots hated flying it. From writings of former Hungarian Flogger pilots, most retrained from Fishbeds, they loved the upgrade in avionics, low speed handling and the extra lift from the swing-wings at takeoff and landing.
Thought truth be told their only frame of reference was the previous Fishbed, they had no idea how outclassed they were by the Mig-29 the Soviets were already flying, or even worse, US F-15's and F-16's.
