You want to get to his shoulder joint? Not possible by just laying him on his side, without heating the outer shoulder first. Takes a lot of time and wastes a lot of energy.
Hot water just requires you to leave the shoulder dunked in and everything the water touches will turn rubbery, even inside.
This doesn't take less time with a hair dryer, even when taking the time to nuke water for 30 seconds.
