They're going to kill the entire local nerd shit industry outside of Japan in the near future.
Every single store that sells comics, videogames, action figures, etc, all have been forced to put all or most of their eggs into the basket of funkos, because they bring in the casual sometimes consumer and not the consistent customer. This causes inventory to be pushed out in favour more and more of cheap garbage geek culture stuff with funkos as the main focus. However, this culture is unsustainable as we've already seen with the devaluation of funko stocks and the propensity for normies to not fucking buy their garbage anymore. At some point this is going to cause an incredibly large amount of these small shops to have their profits drop off by over half, and them struggling to bring back consumers like those that frequent this board, because we had to give up on brick and mortar ages ago due to them dropping all the actual things we wanted to buy.
I still love my local comic shops and nerd shops, but only one will actually survive when Funko stops being a trend and that's purely due to them limiting the amount they sell and focusing more on Gunpla which is far more sustainable. Still won't stock anything and everything you could want like back in the late 00s and early 10s, but it's still much better than 90% of stores nowadays having almost nothing but funkos.
