Its called having standards.

However, scale creep happened with MLs and it's so gradual that ML collectors didn't notice. So when a new line came along that these collectors could add to their collection happened to be 1:12 scale, they just looked hypocritical and dumb for criticizing the line for not being compatible with their own collection when their own line was no longer in scale with itself.

I mean, no one expects them to be exactly in scale, but we do expect tall characters to be tall and short characters to be short, and their relative size in relation to others.
So the shift from short characters becoming taller than older tall characters is pretty bad.
