I've seen most interviews from the day he announced the DC line up til around the last Sharktimus prime interview around toy fair and some random WHOs who interviewed him this year, and he only said he wants his company to be one of the last ones who goes beyond $19.99.
Also, are you even following the DC line or what people have been saying about Mcfarlane since day one? Paint has been an issue with people since he started the line. Even i saw that, as i had been collecting McFalrane's stuff since forever and saw a noticeable decline from the Color Tops lines to their modern lines.
This was 2020, so their Call of Duty line had full paint apps, washes, dry brushing, and little details, whereas the DC line was missing a whole mess of that. Even stuff like their Warhammer figures are missing paint apps, though weirdly enough, the Xenoscum figures from the same line aren't.
I admit that my collection of DC figures is much more limited, where i own maybe only a dozen figures, and my newest figures are Lexseid and Grifter. So i might be missing out how many cuts there have been, but the DC General thread has been bitching all the same since day one about paint apps. And I'm not seeing it either.
Despite this, McFarlane's figures are still a hundred times better than Mattel's output from 2004-2020.
