The argument here was that kimonos aren't a hot outfit. They are pretty conservative dresses that if anything aim at subduing the female form underneath. Sure, the kimono does have its fetishistic appeal for the cultured man; just think about the Christmas joy of undoing the obi and taking each layer off this maiden whose skin was never touched by the Sun; or if you're into into peeking at feet with geta. But the outfit itself? It's pretty, but not really any hotter than a sari or some other traditional outfit. Now the qipao, that's a hot dress.
