>>7124091So we've discussed Arcadia, next is Bandai! Bandai has two major Macross toy lines going; the DX Chogokin line and the Hi-Metal R line.
DX Chogokin is sort of the "premium" line. The DX valks are generally 1/60 scale (forgot to mention it above, but Arcadia valks are 1/60 scale too, which makes your average valk around 8-10 inches tall in battroid depending on the model) and highly detailed with tons and I mean TONS of paint apps. DX valks got off to a rough start engineering-wise, but Bandai made a concerted effort to up their game and they're now consistently great in terms of both looks and engineering.
Where Arcadia's releases have mostly been VF-1s, DX valks have all either been from Macross Frontier or Delta era. That's going to change soon, however, with the upcoming release of a YF-19 (which is gonna be a re-paint/mold of the VF-19 Advance, pictured here) and a VF-1J. Interestingly, the VF-1J is going to be 1/48 scale. A big advantage of the DX line is that they all include a stand and often have tons of accessories, all while coming in at a lower price than a comparable Arcadia. Still pricey, but the value for your money is much better with the DX line.
