I'm planning on printing up and painting this R2D2 head for my POTF2 X-Wing. I'm not sure if resin will be sturdy enough though, because it's a button that has to survive getting cycled. Should I take my chances for the sake of getting a smooth factory finish surface, or should I go with plastic and accept that it's gonna have some step lines on it?
I'm also going to print up some movie-accurate vertical laser canons for it and potentially even a new canopy if I can get the clear resin to polish up clean enough, because the model I found has the actual support frame modeled on that'll look great with some paint. I don't have a resin printer yet but I'm getting one later this year.
