It's more likely that it's Storm wanting to stick to the seamless meme as a weird "identity" thing, as they started out making 1/6 seamless figures, right? They keep just wanting to bring it back.
As for Orochi and Devil Jin being seamless, I think they backflipped on that. WonFes 2021 pics show Orochi with a torso cut, not sure when we last saw DJin if he had one too
