>>7076962I could, funnily enough I modified my hilt and midsword and (for now) they're actually more secure than the midsword and topsword. That was the point of getting Kabaya Jetter actually, I plan to swap his opaque chest with the original translucent one that's also started to give up.
For the midsword, I just added material (Scrap ABS fused with Methylene Chloride) to the flat blade of the peg and filed it down to round so it's a complete circle and forms a vacuum, as well as removing the stress points on the barrel at the two corners.
Hilt is picrelated. After the last time the barrel broke I decided to go ham with mods/repairs. Filed it down to the first inner ring (about 2mm), cut a groove in his crotch to socket the hinge bar that holds the midsword cockpit, and added an ABS securing band around the remaining part of the barrel (again, scrap ABS sheet + Methylene chloride.) You can see the fog on the barrel from the solvent and the # of times it's been repaired. May need to add more ABS sheet around the barrel as it still shows stress marks when Mach is socketed in.
My big concern now is I can see fractures in one of the shoulder hinges, which wouldn't be so easily fixed if it broke. I wish I could get the central pin out to file the torso down and reduce some of the
lateral stress but it's got a recessed head at both sides.
