The most extreme to me seems to be Maketoys, where their newer MP figures don't match their old MP figures at all; Meteor has an interaction piece for Despotron but they look entirely different. With MMC, the Insecticons are basically cartoon designs with toy detailing and deco, but some people still didn't get that(like Bobbo bone boy) and were like HURR WHY SHRAPNEL HAVE YELLOW LEG, DEY NOT PAINT!? when the G1 toy was colored like that. Anyway, tossing them into Reformatted was probably to avoid more of that.
