>>6656779Don't get me wrong, we almost definitely will get a new fantasy style Castle theme eventually. I'm just saying when NK retires, it's not gonna be directly replaced with a castle theme.
I'm sure you could modify the upcoming Hogwarts Castle set if you're waiting for something "official" though. Even if you just use it as a parts pack, from everything I've heard, its supposed to be pretty hardcore.
This is kinda a deviant from what anyone's asked so far, but I have some minor concerns for LEGO's future, as far as producing new themes goes. LEGO currently makes only three themes with minifigures based entirely off of original ideas. Only one of those themes (City) doesn't have a TV Show associate with it. 2018 marks the second year in a row with no new introduced non-licensed theme. From 2010 to 2015 TLG introduced Atlantis, Ninjago, Pharaoh's Quest, Alien Conquest, Dino, Monster Fighters, and Ultra Agents. From 2015-2018 Nexo Knights is the only new theme. This is a HUGE deal, because this more than anything should tell everyone LEGO is giving up on original themes, and focusing on licenses. And it's not that there's no demand for "classic" themes, I constantly get asked when we're bringing stuff back. Stacked on top of how LEGO is downsizing now, this is not a good trend, and I know for a fact 2018 will introduce no more original themes. And there is a reason for this. TLG feels the only way kids can really "connect" with a theme is if they can hook up their iPad and watch TV based off their toys, or play with toys based off their TV. It's REALLY sad, but its sadly pretty true.
