There's actually having decent "alt mode piece becomes a weapon", but when you're just taking half of the vehicle mode off, doing nothing with it and calling it a shield? That's insanely lazy and cheap. Kingdom Arcee at least has two joints to lie to you about it being a transforming part and not just take this alt mode chunk off and put it to the side.
Someone needs to post the alternative fix with the string on that note.
