The Metru Nui Matorans are the only Matorans with a proper variety of eye colours.
The Tohunga had soulless gray heads. The Restored Tohunga had just pearl gray heads, with no option for eyestalks.
The Metru Nui Matorans have all kind of colourful eyes to make them unique from eachother.
The only other Matorans that had eyes and brains were the Mahri Nui ones, but they also only really had transparent light green, nothing else. Same for the Av Matoran, with those ugly, ugly full transluscent heads.
