I feel the need to make the case for Dino Riders as some time ago, there was an anon who didn't get the appeal. As a follow up to my previous post, I believe the charm of Dino Riders stems from the lunacy of the concept. Dinosaurs are cool on their own, but adding in a bizarre sci-fi twist into the mix always give the resulting product a hell of a kick. The idea of these human marines domesticating these primordial beasts of Earth's past, and utilizing them to wage war on their otherwordly enemies from the far flung future is exciting, it's different, and not much like it has been seen since. But it's just my take.
