>>9135371Should have aimed more for visual appeal rather than paying tribute to scenes from a niche story. The beach part of the diorama was probably one of the worst ideas because it's literally just an ugly load of grey bricks in the shape of a generic mountainside. It's not visually interesting and there's no fun building techniques, the empty spot behind the telescope is bad use of space. The arguably most "iconic" part of the scene, the Toa canister, is one of the most insignificant parts of the build. The whole thing gets more unappealing the more I look at it.
I still don't get why TTV shilled so immensely hard for this mess and how they could delude themselves and others into thinking that this model would be marketable, outside of sheer desperation. At best it's a mediocre MOC with an interesting concept aimed at a very small circle of fans, not something you'd expect to sell as a product.
And this is just my opinion but I don't get that evocative mysterious feeling I associate with Bionicle from this model. If someone really wanted to design a Bionicle-inspired System set, they could try to capture the overall feeling of Bionicle, rather than replicate any particular scene from the lore that only hardcore fans would recognize. Make some half-buried ancient giant tiki robot overgrown with plants and partially converted into a hut for some cute robo villagers. Place some intricate machinery or something in the robot hinting at some forgotten backstory. That's visual storytelling right there. Such a model would be more in line with Bionicle's spirit of contrasting tech with nature, and might also look appealing to an average Lego fag who knows nothing of the story.
