There are way, way worse especially on Tumblr and when you look for human heads.
Aesthetic definitely didn't go downhill, it's just that more people attempt sculpting and actually selling their stuff now. Through 3D modeling, 3D printing and cheaper casting services like Haru you just got a lot more options now than before.
