As some of you already know I'm a pretty big fan of 80s and 90s Lego Space. It's what I mostly collect and enjoy doing MOCs of.
Still, this theme (which I even had a set of as a kid) completely baffles me.
The figures look great, their suits have amazing prints (for the time) and having two helmet molds is great.
Then there's the sets. Some of them are not as bad as others but honestly with the exception of one or two sets I really can't get what they were trying to do with the aesthetic here.
It looks a lot weirder than a lot of the CS sets (and with CS that works because they're looking for that 50s,60s and early 70s sci-fi movie space aesthetic) - but here, I just don't follow.
The sets feel disjointed somehow, and I don't think there's a worse offender than this one.
6856 is odd - the only thing it has going for it is the telescope assembly at the top which I imagine was the thing they first built.
So, did any of you guys have these? What's your opinion of them?
I honestly feel I may need to MOC/rework most of the sets once I get them in order to get them in a state I could be happy with.
