...immediately after posting this, I checked the sprues and realized there was another, different, loader's hatch which looked slightly different. I cut it off, cleaned it up, and dry fit it. It fits perfectly.

I dont know why you anons seethe so much over Zvezda.
I made one of their 90s kits and it wasn't *terrible*, though I imagine there's a chance that's just the exception rather than the rule.
nevertheless their newer stuff is very nice.
meanwhile I'm building this ICM Chaika (2015 tooling) and I actually feel like I'm making a Hasegawa kit from the 80s, it's that bad
