On the planet Master sometime prior to 2011, Scorponok has gotten his hands on some coveted plasma energy and found that while it usually destroys inorganic matter, exposing it to Transformer bodies in a certain way may let them develop new transformations and combinations. Seeking to make himself stronger, he captures six Master inhabitants who have not trained to be Headmasters—Peacemaker, Pinpointer, Spoilsport, Caliburst, Blowpipe and Aimless—and experiments on them by exposing them to the energy. Fortress finds out and puts a stop to the experiments, sparking the beginning of Scorponok's rebellion that sees him exiled from Master. The victims, who have lost the ability to speak, receive medical treatment for years until the day Scorponok returns with his MegaZarak transtector and attempts to recapture them, prompting the six to flee the planet and seek out Fortress
