Go see Jazware's Micro line that are $25, which is a 2.5" figure and diorama pieces.

>>10742604 , the wheels are too detailed to be molded from one single piece. Detail that goes in like that requires a seperate piece, which probably means they move. One solid piece is why stuff like GI Joes guns don't have hollowed out barrels, because all the detail is going to the side of the guns. It's also why they tended to look flat too. It's the nature of how shit is molded.
If it is one piece, something more complex (read: expensive) is going on.
And checking out some toy fair videos, McFarlane's tanks and trucks are definitely bigger than Jakks planes. The tanks are Micro Machine size, which are ~1/144 scale.
