>>6834339>You're completely deluded if you believe this is true. Japan always caters to the Japanese first and foremost, the moe increase over the yeas would have happened anyways because that's what their target audience want. To them, international sales are secondary other than maybe Square Enix, so some american retail stores getting fucked means jack shit to how their media evolves. Are you 15?
Yeah, Japan matters first, but they did take into account foreign market taste too.
Anime was HUGELY affected by the market in the US bombing out in the late-00s.
There was sooo much anime shit back then in the main stream market, that anime studios were producing shit for western tastes back then AND co-productions were becoming common.
The North American market JUST for anime sales (dvd, vhs, and tv licenses) was worth more than ALL merch sales for anime related shit. So don't tell me that Japan didn't notice this and have no clue on how to business.
Nevermind that merch sales also come from North America too. The market for merch is larger here than anywhere else and Suncoast/Sam Goody/ETC was big time into selling Japanese crap in their stores, not just anime/manga.
You seriously have to be a teenager if you didn't notice this shit and a big time weeaboo if you think US sales don't matter. A company like TRU no longer existing is going to put a dent in your revenue no matter how big you are. For small companies and niche lines, that dent is going to be way larger.
