Still one of the most recognizable character and I don't think SHF nailed it perfectly, being relatively skinny and gappy. Yamaguchi made 2 versions before and we know he likes to repeat some properties (easier to get the rights again probably). And he fits with the superhero theme AY seem to follow as of now. Mantaro I thought maybe because Bandai didn't do it and it's a good way to boost sales by doing a different character. Make him and Kevin Mask and that's all you need for most people. But I'm sure if they were to do one Suguru will be first.
Just an educated guess. Depending on how superhero archetype focused they want to be with the AY selection, the Japanese IP slot doesn't have that many options. I think they'll cherry pick main characters instead of doing half dozen MHA characters.
