It's unclear whether Pidgin Doll recast MNF parts to use them in his own doll, though I'm personally inclined to say no(maybe?) given how differently sized the parts are.
However, recast or no, Fairyland has expressly asked people not to 1:1 copy their engineering, and generally dont want things made that are compatible with it. They are fine with "inspiration", but not "imitation". You can look at a FL joint, say "hey thats cool, i would like to try making something similar, or use this as a jumping off point", but you cannot say "hey that's cool, i want to recreate it."
The engineering is key; FL don't want people to reproduce the joint systems designed by FL as they are complex, well constructed and, to some people, the main appeal of their doll lines.
When it comes to Copyright, the general rule is "you cannot own an idea" ie, a ball and socket joint, "but you can own the execution of an idea" ie, a ball joint in this particular circle square combo shape with divets on the sides to match the particularly designed notches in the elbow socket.
The result is that PD overstepped the acceptable limits of inspiration, and landed in imitation, which Fairyland has openly asked people not to do.
Heck, that's why the Leekeworld Art Body was considered inappropriate; it was too close to be considered inspiration; it was imitation.
So, for an example, Culur uses a similar elbow peanut to Fairyland, and the PD elbow in question.
If you compare the three, all are the round peanut with a rectangular section on the bottom. However, you can see that Culurs bottom joint is rounded, and doesn't have the locking notches at the top of the joint, whereas PD does. PD's joint and socket look like a direct replica of FL, where Culur's looks similar, but not identical.
An aside, i dont own any of these dolls. just infodumping
