i don't have the feeling they care about the extra cost of prints.

Everything on the tank are stickers.
On the little walker on the left the "feet" are stickers too. But those dishes (there are two, one at each side of the back of the cockpit) that serve no purpose at all in this build are printed.
They could have easily left them away, replaced them with unprinted ones, or transparent dishes or a different part but they choose to use printed ones.
My best guess is they created a couple of printed parts and re-used them for a variety of sets, so these might be included in one of the bigger and more expensive sets too.
