>>9276025Since it was bumped I have a few more bits of info about the figure gleaned while taking another look at it while cleaning even the non-dirty top half.
I forgot to mention initially that the figure did have a distinct smell compared to any other old figures I've opened. An odor IS typically associated with plasticizer breakdown, but this figure is from 1999 and I've opened older figures with no such problem. It was not sticky as mentioned, which is why I didn't think it was plasticizer breakdown.
I think one of three factors might be a factor as to some of the weirdness:
1. The figure has these bendy red rubbery tubes all over it as seen in
>>9269353 which could have a coating that breaks down faster than typical.
2. This is the black and gray variant with a metallic style "wash" on the giant M symbol and the arm blade which may have had a coat of some substance that breaks down faster than typical. Although this part was not dirty.
3. It comes with a rubbery tail (bottom right) with a bendy wire in it. Maybe the rubber began to break down. I thought of this after seeing someone mention in another thread that Toybiz figure rubber is already starting to break down and figured since this has such a large rubbery component while most figures I have do not, that could be a key difference.
