Guess his IDW version is more competent but just as fanatic since he was the leader of the anti-Wreckers and Impactor's personal nemesis. When Impactor eventually got his chance his hatred was intense enough to make him fuck himself over and commit a war crime just to execute Macabre. He was certainly strong and lucky to survive as long, but Tarn is a character with a very similar role and he's as insecure as he's insane, so I choose to imagine IDW Macabre as someone that has more or less kept his Marvel UK traits.
