Without a shadow of a doubt, 2020's Toy of the Year was the Nerf Alpha Strike Uppercut. A textbook example of corporate cost-cutting, the Nerf design team took the cheapest Nerf blaster on the market and made it even cheaper to produce by removing the trigger. They cut production costs even further by only including a single dart (as opposed to two darts) and packaged them in a plastic baggie instead of the traditional blister card. It brought the price of the Uppercut down a whole dollar while delivering dollar store levels of reliability and performance. The Nerf Alpha Strike Uppercut is the toy we deserved in 2020. My hat's off to you, Hasbro!
