>>6937102They never said that it'd cost as much or be negligible, just that they thought the cost would be unfair.
IE, that could mean that since 1:18 figures were costing around $10 at the time, that people would balk at paying $20 for them.
Which ignored that people were already buying 30 figures from 1:18 kickstarters for high prices, because that's how much that shit costs when produced at lower numbers vs Hasbro's stuff.
Plus, they had all their He-Man fanbase crying that they didn't want 1:18, so they gave in.
>Why are mass market companies putting out more (mostly shitty) large format toys than we've seen since the 90s?Demand.
That's it. They think more collectors want 1:12 and the sales prove that they want it, they continue to make them and maybe make more.
Just 10 years ago 1:18 was the hottest shit, with diecast and high injection molded plastic vehicles with moving pieces out the wazoo. Once the demand died down, they stopped making it for mass market and when they got niche, prices increased.
> Why is Mattel putting out 100% new dinosaur molds larger than repetitive marvel legends bucks that cost the same price? Because that shit is barely articulated compared to an ML. More pieces = more shit that needs to get molded.
>Size isn't the factor it once was,Except it is, because you're still using more materials to create teh toy and using more molds because of the larger size.
