I was inspired by the dragon as a reference to the ‘dragon lady’ trope that was so often put upon her in her career. But I wanted to take that stereotype and turn it into something glamourous and respectful for her. So, I designed the dragon on her gown to be a delicately die-cut applique using a gold foil fabric.
