Maybe it’s because the designs for everything past 0079 were very carefully worked-out, maybe it’s because Bandai have better designers, but the ANIME line actually isn’t all that anime-accurate. Instead it captures the spirit of the anime, rather than slavishly reproducing badly-drawn and inconsistent animation. The ANIME figures still have plenty of detail that never appears on the animation models too. They also don’t sacrifice engineering and stability, rather the figures actually got better and not worse under the ANIME brand. It’s like the exact opposite happened with Takara and 3P when they went down the animation rabbit hole. Probably also worth considering that Gundam began as animation, toys came later. Transformers began as toys and eventually spawned a media franchise.
