Culturefly's Critter Crates, microplaysets that come packed with 6 fully painted character figurines along with accessories and a playmat. They can be found near the electronic registers at walmart alongside the Spongebob Tiny Mights (another bang for your buck line if you arent already aware of them).
Five below sells generic versions of these too, zoo animals and dinosaurs mostly, but they're worth a look at.
