The Q movie Evangelions were done well too even though they're older and mecha. Problem with western comics AY is they don't stick to one artist so Yamaguchi follow his own style with faces and body builds. Some costume interpretations for posing purpose.
I think with manga characters today his own stylization wouldn't be as noticeable. About the same for any other action figure brands, because they all do have some level of stylization after all.
