Although I went back and looked at her Instagram again, and she finally edited out the eyebrow bit after people kept telling her that the doll does have a unibrow, it's just not visible in the far away publicity photo. Now it just says "Frida never tried to be or look like anyone else. She celebrated her uniqueness. How could they turn her into a Barbie."
People did complain about the Frida movie in 2002. Hayek has apparently forgotten about Frida Kahlo's family and Mexican fans who complained about her portrayal being commercialized and glamorized, particularly as it related to Frida's physical condition and health. While there's a scene in the film where she's in the wheelchair, Hayek did not walk with Kahlo's signature limp, did not protest scenes where Kahlo was dancing with a spry, light and definitely not disabled step, nor did Hayek's performance depict the chronic pain and disability that Kahlo lived with in a substantial way.
All of which I wouldn't particularly care about since every film which adapts the life of a real person is going to alter the narrative and remove aspects and characteristics for various reasons, but I bring it up because it's pretty hypocritical of Hayek to act so above a Barbie doll when her own portrayal of Frida is not nearly above reproach.
