The inclusion of a mortar man in this German set is long overdue - every German army I've raised previously was devoid of such portable artillery, having to be content with a few panzerschrecks and a profusion of grenadiers. Mortars in general are routinely omitted from army men sets, with the notable exception of the famous Timmee Vietnam War Americans. Some older companies like BMC would have mortar crew figures and a separate mortar piece for them to serve, possibly a reason why they're uncommon as army men have largely moved away from that style.
