The relationship between the aliens and crystals is still giving me metroid and phazon vibes, where despite the fact Metroids can feed off phazon, they have different origins but by happenstance keep finding themselves in the same location. We need a third faction whose irresponsible behavior led to spreading them around the galaxy, or an explanation for how the aliens can spread themselves beyond a single planet besides an extremely random asteroid impact
