No need to impress vendors? Doesn't have to sit on a shelf and be examined? Lower numbers mean workers don't have a chance to get used to making a given item, or production is squeezed in between items with greater demand?
I don't know why, but in my experience, exclusives have sucky QC at a much higher rate than regular releases. I can stand a small bump in price, but hell, at least give me a good product for it.
