You can go anywhere with that and introduce all kinds of new tribes for years. It could get really crazy and have mummy ostriches in the desert or a pterodactyl tribe with a cloud-based setting for that wave's adventure or something.
I think waves that are too similar is the biggest mistake they keep making with the action themes. With Ninjago they do snakes every other year it seems, but at least they spread it out so there's a break and it can be slightly new again.
