I have slowly been buying some of the Godzilla films (Sony Toho Godzilla Collection Blu-rays) and I have noticed the transfers are pretty subpar. There really isn't much of an upgrade from the DVD's that were previously available around the same time. Anyone know what happened? I assume Toho oversaw the transfer of these films. It just strikes me as odd

I just finished the first film. I thought it was not bad for a budget Kaiju film. I'll give the other two movies a watch. My only complaint is the kaiju battles were just okay, and their screams were a little weak. I do think they had some good human characters in the movie, a rarity for a kaiju film. I couldn't take the physic link the girl had with Gamera seriously though

Not him, but I would suggest hitting up thrift stores or places like that for cheap used Blu-rays. You could always try your luck with eBay as well. Sadly, since production of physical media has gone down significantly over the years.. I have heard stock on new cases is dwindling. That’s doubly true for uniquely colored Blu-ray cases. There is one beacon of hope for physical media though. According to reports, 2021 had a pretty big demand for physical media as a whole. So, that that as you will.

The whole dogma outlook on fictional characters is bullshit. When you look at the whole Multiverse thing with both Marvel and DC that comes from the "What If" comics.
