1 probably won't be a problem if the figure is not this big that it warrant the usage of 2.
Then again, other reviewers (mostly from UK) don't seem to have this problem. Yes, it could be they don't play enough to break the thing or it is just you typical 1 in 100 qc
The few solutions I can see
Fill the grey gap with filler and drill into the purple plate with small screws to secure it. I don't know how easy it would be.

I don't know if this is a viable option consider with trypticon, it was the hip that has the problem and that has bunch of supports part like lower body profile and tail. For TW, and you need everything to support the rest of the upper body.
