I've always been a Newage guy, so this is my first experience with a Magic Square figure. If LoJ is an example of Magic Square's usual quality then I think it's pretty nice, though it doesn't feel as "premium" as Newage in terms of materials. The plastic, which has always looked "soft" in photos to me sort of has that brittle cheap plastic feel that early 3P like iGear weapons specialist had, but at the same time it doesn't actually feel like it's going to break and the plastic does in fact have some give to it (if it didn't then I'd break the legs transforming them).
It's not enough to get me to change gears from Newage to Magic Square, but overall a pretty solid figure.
