>>6257064A person!
You jump. Your heart pounds in your ears, racing due to the second scare in less than a minute.
No, wait. Not a person. It looks like a girl, and it even seems to have skin, but its arms and legs end abruptly in metal stumps with wires peeking out of them.
It's a robot. Only, it seems to be half-finished... or partially destroyed, you're not sure. It seems to be missing most of its armor, and what little that still clings to it is rusted with age. Its synthetic hair is covered with dust and clumped together on its scalp to form an almost solid-looking surface.
At this point, you're sure this is some kind of weapons factory, but it clearly hasn't been active in some time. You don't even recognize the weapons they were producing here, much less the humanoid one before you.
You know you should ignore all this and look for a way out, but your curiosity gets the better of you and you move forward to inspect the robot.
You're only a few paces away when you hear clicking and whirring.
Suddenly, the robot's eyes light up.
You stumble backward as the robot lifts its head. You know you should hide, but your body is frozen in equal parts fear and curiosity.
The robot's eyes flash, and it opens its mouth.
>It has been nine thousand, two hundred, eighteen days, three hours, five minutes... since my last activation. Scanning suite offline. Infrared/ultraviolet sensors offline. Visible light sensors online. Personality matrix offline. Most servos functional but in need of immediate maintenance. Nuclear core offline. Auxiliary batteries nearly depleted. Her head snaps upwards. Her eyes fix on you, her gaze bores into your skull.
>Human. Help me.
