Time for another ship. After the light cruiser last time (HMS Belfast, partially shown in the background for scale) I thought I'd go with something considerably smaller: a battleship. The specific victim this time around is S-model's 1/700 Chen Yuen. As that's a brand that seems to be mostly about easy-assemble 1/72 tanks sold two to a box (I'm guessing aiming at least as much at the war gaming crowd as the scale model one) a lone warship from a rarely talked about time and place that comes with a pretty comprehensive PE fret and turned brass barrels seems a bit out of character. Someone's passion project perhaps?
Fit has been pretty good so far, though the meeting of the hull sides in the rear needed a touch of filler. And don't get too attached to the turrets, the Chinese didn't and so had them removed when they turned out to be more splinter source than splinter protection. I just clipped them off the sprue and put them on for the photo, they'll be replaced by turned brass barrels sitting out in the open.
