Maybe I'm an old dog, but its just weird to me how much of a push there's been for strict toon designs in the last 10 years. I remember when Don Figueroa and Dan Khanna and even Pat Lee's early work was coming out and it blew people away;this was what people wanted these characters to look like in the 80's comics and cartoons. Then it seems as backlash to the live action movies and IDW's redesigns after a few years, the pendulum swung and people went all in on really replicating the animation. Its just strange to me because even in more toon accurate depictions back in the 2000's, the emphasis was on stylizing that to look better than the actual show.
