I don't think the silver was scraped, since the original has some in the vents of the helmet you couldn't just scape off like that, I'm thinking it was never applied to begin with. You might be right about the yellowing, but would it do it this specifically to this degree? His back torso doesn't have the gradient going on at all. Maybe the plastic used was just different and that's why it reacted differently? Who knows.
