Everyone recognises Slizers/Throwbots and Roboriders as the predecessors to Bionicle, but for some reason no one mentions Technic Competition. Bionicle in 2001 borrowed a lot from that theme, especially the large Rahi sets, but the playfunction (knocking off the opponent's mask) was used in the Toa and Turaga sets too.
