>>6063144I apreciate them for doing something new in the early 2000s with their crazy modern and over the top caricature designs. And some vintage ones are cool.
But i've always been more of a Majorette and Matchbox guy because they had such nice suspensions and they were more prevalent here. Micromachines get an honourable mention too.
Matchbox Lesney productions superfast era are my favourite. I get all kinds of excited whenever i spot one in a thriftstore and don't care how fucked they are as long as they roll well. Especially the slightly more crazy ones struck a perfect balance between looking like a real-life counterpart but also modifying the proportions to suit a toylike feel and be recognizable at a small scale. Where 2000s and onwards hotwheels are often over the top and with slick style, these cars were just in the sweetspot between oldfashioned kidfriendly toyish and niche subculture angry hotrodding attitude. They also had amazing level of tight sculpted details, nintendium paintjobs that stay relatively intact after almost half a century of play and retain their amazing intense bright shiny colours.
