The front flap opens! Lego doesn't do this anymore for cost reasons but it was pretty common on larger sets in the pre-2000s era. Inside are some play features as well as a window meant to show off minifigures and interesting parts. As you can see there are no parts in the tray, that's because I forgot to take pictures of this thing before opening it.
